London, UK – The Works International is delighted to announce that it has taken on international sales duties on Jan Verheyen’s DOSSIER K (The K-File). The film is the follow up to the highly successful THE ALZHEIMER CASE (a.k.a. Memory of a Killer) which travelled worldwide and which was also handled by The Works.
DOSSIER K was released in its home territory of Belgium on the 9th of December 2009 where to date it has raked in an outstanding US$ $3,208,055 (331,154 admissions).
DOSSIER K is a hard-hitting crime thriller, reuniting the cops from the internationally acclaimed “The Alzheimer Case” (a.k.a. Memory of a Killer). This time around they are struggling with the ‘new approach’ to crime control and having to rein in their more unorthodox methods.
DOSSIER K plunges us into a violent clash between two worlds: the Albanian mountain clans clinging on to their ancient codes and a modern metropolis desperately protecting its brittle privileges from invasion. Caught in the eye of that storm are a young Albanian on a mission-of-honour to avenge his father and a lovesick cop dead set on stopping the blood feud. By the time both find out they’ve been manipulated from the outset, they are set on a fatal collision course.
Directed by Jan Verheyen (Alias), the film stars Koen De Bouw (Loft; The Alzheimer Case); Werner De Smedt (The Alzheimer Case) and Blerim Destani (Get Low) and is produced by Peter Bouckaert and Erwin Provoost for Eyeworks Film & TV Drama. DOSSIER K is co-produced by Petra Goedings for Phantavision. It was adapted for screen by Carl Joos, Erik Van Looy and Jan Verheyen from the novel by Jef Geeraerts. The film was made with the support of the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF/ Flanders Image) and the Dutch Film Fund.
The Works will be launching DOSSIER K at the Berlin Film Festival as a market premiere.
Producer Peter Bouckaert comments: “When The Works called us after seeing DOSSIER K, stating that they were very enthusiastic about the quality, the production value and the international potential of our film, we were overjoyed. We had a very fruitful and pleasant collaboration with The Works on The Alzheimer Case and we are confident that they are the right partners to bring DOSSIER K to the international market.”
Carl Clifton, MD of The Works International adds: “We are thrilled to be back on board with the team behind The Alzheimer Case and also the hugely talented Jan Verheyen and feel sure that DOSSIER K will replicate the success of that film internationally.”
