Senior ALBERT HOFER who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease comes from his new home Lugano to visit the Black Forest Manor. Some month ago his wife DORA died after having had a stroke. Albert no longer feels comfortable alone in Ticino and wants to return forever. VERONIKA and her children MERLE and STEFAN are quickly involved in a discussion regarding the question “What to do with Albert?” , “Who takes care of him?” The grandchildren propose to look after him with the help of Veronika’s mother Lore. At the beginning it seems as if Albert’s integration is successful. He even feels better. But then the stress of daily life overruns them.

Merle lives in a happy relationsship with cook Martin and both are involved in wedding preparations. Stefan has plenty of work to do at the hotel. Both neglect their duties and suddenly Albert has disappeared. Finally Max finds disorientated Albert and brings him back. Veronika and the kids blame themselves, but they find a solution: Lore will move to Albert’s place and care for him.

Also Max has his cross to bear. All his trouts are threatened to die because of a virus infection. The consequence would be an economic ruin for him, but with Veronika’s help he finds a solution.

Meanwhile Stefan wants to lead Black Forest Manor with innovative ideas to a new future. He and Veronika, however, don’t agree about the direction of the family business. All employes are irritated by Stefan’s way of managing the hotel and initiate a strike. Veronika succeds in calming down the hotel staff and Stefan gives in.

Big white wedding at the end of the happy couple Merle and Martin. Everyone’s there, but there’s one discord: Stefan is about to leave Black Forest Manor forever…
