A 'minor' incident at an army top-brass reception, results in a taunted superior banishing diver Rick Symons to the 40th SAR squad on the Belgian coast. Rick's new job lands him in the middle of a Sea King crew that is both competent and odd.
His biggest suprise, however, is finding female medic Alex there, whom he has squabbled with before. It soon transpires that Rick had a special reason to work his way towards a transfer: a year and a half ago, a diving accident left his friend and colleague Koen disabled for life. Rick knows all too well that, that fatal night, he let his friend down in more ways than one.
