Following years of establishing our global presence we have compiled a set of tier 1 closely tied production operations that together serve as the engine of Eyeworks. With operations spanning 15 countries we have realized a presence in nearly all the major television format markets in the world and we can now fully focus on nurturing the creative process and the creative output within our group. That said, we will always continue to be pro-active in bringing in new talent into the organization in either new territories or territories where we are already present.
As each year passes we continue to mature as an organization. The majority of our companies are part of the Eyeworks Group for only a few years, however the familiarity of our Affiliates with each other and the resulting group collaboration is improving at a faster rate than even I anticipated. The success of our creative exchange process is becoming more and more visible as each year passes as formats and ideas travel freely amongst our Affiliates. Last year for example, CQC, was commissioned in the Netherlands and has now travelled to 10 countries; Ticket to the Tribes is now produced in Spain making the format a success in 9 countries; the Dutch format Italian Dream is produced in Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and Spain; the Danish format Generation 10 is produced in the Netherlands and Belgium; in the UK we have produced the prime time game show format developed by our US Affiliate Heads or Tails and lastly the Eyeworks International format I Know What You Did, launched in 2008, is now produced in 4 countries including in Eyeworks territories the Netherlands, Belgium and Sweden.
We are also building a worldwide creative network of scripted operations and now have a scripted presence, both television drama as well as feature film releases, in 7 out of our 15 countries. With 2009 successes such as Maitena (Women on the Edge), aired in Spain with over 170 episodes, David, the first owned and developed telenovella aired in Belgium and Flikken Maastricht, our Belgian format which is entering its 5th season and still remains the leading police drama series in the Netherlands, we are entering 2010 with high expectations for our scripted operations.
In addition, for the first time in our short history in 2010 we will be operating the Eyeworks brand in all of our countries which will serve as the additional catalyst as we seek to grow our expanding worldwide reputation.
For me personally 2009 was a year of firsts as I directed my first feature film, Komt Een Vrouw bij de Dokter (A Women Goes to the Doctor) in the Netherlands which continues to receive both critical and box office success as the number 1 viewed Dutch movie of the year breaking the record as the fastest Dutch movie ever to reach 1 million visitors. I loved the experience and again would like to thank all the people who worked with me and helped to make the movie and my debut a success.
We will continue to grow and to enhance Eyeworks’ position as the creative and all around company that we are today by investing in our creativity, our international network and our people with the sole focus on continuing to develop, produce and distribute high quality television programmes in every genre… Because we love inspiring audiences worldwide.
